Building

The three-dimensional windows are inspired by folk art motives and linking the structure to its neighbouring buildings.

The iconic building is by Jozsef Kerényi from Kecsekmét, a town of the South-East Region of Hungary. This iconic modernist building which is generally mentioned as the ‘House with flower windows’, has been inaugurated in 1977.
The two-storey concrete structure is raised on a set of reinforced pillars that allows the building block to be opened and closed in the same time.

What happened to the building ?

The List Institute received funding by the Modern Cities Program that led to an impressive development to be laid out. Unfortunately, the board decided to demolish the structure consequent to its structural damage that resulted several architects calling for its protection.
It seems the latest decision stands for demolition and the rebuilding of the original structure.
Design
